Our Purpose
The purpose for which C.I.T.Y. is formed is exclusively to provide non-profit
activities to the youth and young adults in the Greater Manassas and Prince
William County areas. These non-profit activities include spiritual, educational,
social, recreational and cultural as contemplated by Section 501(c)(3) of
the Internal Revenue Code of 1954.
Bible reference:
Matthew 6:33 - But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and
his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Our Vision
Our Statement of Faith
Christians Involved Together With Youth (C.I.T.Y.)'s purpose is to clearly
affirm the commitment of our ogranization to the Christian faith. The love
of Jesus Christ motivates us in this servant ministry to which He has called
us, and we invite into this fellowship all those who wish to give their time,
talent and treasure in the accomplishment of this ministry.
1. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
2. We believe the Bible to be inspired, and the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.
3. We believe in the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father and His personal return in power and glory.
4. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
5. We believe in the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
History
The vision for C.I.T.Y. was inspired by six men who held their first meeting
August 7, 1989. These men were clergy and laymen from the Prince William County
area, who were concerned about the effects of drugs and violence on the youth
growing up within our communities, particularly, the Georgetown South community.
These men walked the streets of Georgetown South both individually and collectively,
talking to the youth and making themselves a visible, positive presence. Since
that time, many others have been inspired to join in this ministry for our
youth.
